"Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone. We find it with another."
Thomas Merton once wrote "Love is our true destiny. We do not find the meaning of life by ourselves alone. We find it with another."
I heard this quote on my favorite show last week and it really hit me. I had been feeling blah as I sometimes do around the holidays but it cheered me up.
Why was I blah well I was asked by someone if I was sad I was single and the person then proceeded to tell me they felt sorry for me. I think this is what set off the blah mood in full swing. I know they had good intentions in their heart but it still kind of just jolted me.
Yes , it is hard but you know I am not the only single woman and there are others who have been single before me and will be single after me. Did I plan to be single? I have to admit I sort of did. Why? Well look at my previous posts? Do I like being single? Yes and No. Yes, because it allowed me with so many opportunities and experiences. I am a strong independent woman; who sometimes is weak and wonders how much easier would live be if I were not single. I don't like it when I have to deal with car things, or realize each morning that I have to work from now possibly until retirement.
So when I heard that quote it was in the ending of a love interest for Dr. Reid from Criminal Minds and as I saw his potential love interest I thought. Yes, there is someone out there for each one of us maybe not right now but sometime. So who knew that Criminal Minds would quote something that would make me feel just a little better.

Random things and thoughts from today
Passat - The new VW Passat is sweet. I see them and I want one. Well I think about the Sign and Drive promotion and I tell myself just drive and drive away. However, I do like the lines look at that car!! Alas, I may just go for a test drive just to say I drove one.

Tomorrow I have a meeting in Torrance and I am not sure how I feel about this. I am working in Escondido until noon and then driving up there for a 3:00 pm meeting and then back down here afterwards. I will officially spend more time on the road then I will in the meeting so typical - - let's have a meeting and make people go a distance for less time then the meeting.
Looking forward to Saturday and celebrating the first night of Hannukah with my family. While I am Christian and not Jewish I love celebrating the Jewish holidays. It is what my family believes and I support them and love the reason for the celebrations and holidays. I miss my annual Hannukah parties that I had at the manor.
This morning as I was getting ready for work I was reflecting on my life a year ago. I was preparing for surgery and felt like life was just crazy and didn't know how I would do being away from work for six weeks.
I was and am so grateful for my amazing brother K and my sister in law E who provided me with the opportunity to be at their home to recuperate for about 4 weeks. I was spoiled with some great made meals, Internet, cable, and sleeping in. I was spoiled.
I was also well taken care of by my friends who took me to the hospital, visited me and got me out of a hellish room (the roommate was interesting), and checked in on me with e-mails and cards.
How blessed I am for having such great people in my life.

Condolences
So this morning I was driving to work and had to turn my windshield wipers on and had a thought pop into my mind about how the raindrops are like tears and the windshield wipers are the friends that help us through our sad times. Which of course reminded me that it was Friday and I had planned to drive up to Cypress this morning for a funeral but completely forgot because of work.
As I continued to drive to work I thought of this family and their loss, and then reminisced about the time when my mom passed. I thought about how I felt, how I mourned and most of all about the love and support of my friends from the Cypress Stake. This family is in the Cypress Stake and I will say that they have touched my life. One of their son in laws was in my bishopric when my mother passed, one daughter was at my baptism and I learned a lot from her in RS, another daughter also taught me a lot in RS, I also had the privilige to teach Sunday school to a couple of the granchildren and I am friends with some of them. Each member of this family that I know is a descendent of Teddy and Dick Anderson. I believe that often children, are the reflection of the parents and grandparents. I know that T&DA have an incredible posterity.
As I reflected about this family who laid to rest their husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather I felt gratitude for their testimonies and the love they have for each other and those who know them.
I know the widow because she was in my family ward C1 forever. She is a woman that I always thought wow when I grow up I want to be like Teddy. She has such great elegance about her and carries herself with confidence. During RS lessons she taught or when she shared comments during others lessons about family and marriage she talked about her husband and family with pride and love. When you saw this couple at the Ward Christmas party or other events or just out around Cypress; you would see the love between them radiate.
I imagine they spent at least 60 years together in this life, and can not even begin to imagine how it feels to not have that person who has been by your side for so long and knows you so well. I do know that when I lost my mom, I felt an emptiness and loneliness and I was only with her for a short time; so when I think of TA who was with her husband for most of her life, my heart aches for her and I have empathy. However, I know that she is a strong woman who will overcome this temporary separation because of her firm testimony in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I also know how incredibler her children and grandchildren are and how they will support and look after her as well as many members from the Cypress Stake.
Although I could not attend this funeral; my thoughts and prayers are with the Anderson, Boberg, and Sage families.

November 18 - Cruise to Mexican Riviera
Well we headed off to Long Beach and arrived in Irvine to get some macaroons and park the car in Fountain Valley. We then took our chauffer AM to lunch at the Lazy Dog. We arrived at the port and we were trying to figure out what to do with our luggage and asked this nice porter where we dropped our luggage off. She started to point us in one direction and then looked at her card and said never mind, I have room here.
We then checked in quickly and off we went passed a long line and then waited in another line to have our picture taken and then we were on board.
We arrived at our cabin which was on Deck 7; a few minutes later heard a knock on the door and it was our luggage. I quickly noticed that I should have brought a converter as the outlets were mainly European.
We then went and walked around the ship to get oriented with the layout.
When we set sail and it seemed unreal to me that I was finally setting on my first cruise - let me tell you boarding the ship was nothing like on the Love Boat.
That night we had dinner where Oliver was our main server - I don't recall the menu but the food was great but dinner ended late as we had the 8:15 dinner time. It was a very casual environment. I don't recall what else we did as I forgot my journal at home and didn't write anything down but I will try my best.
Met some teenage boys that were trying to win a prize on this game thing in the arcade and it looked easy but of course wasn't we had not set sail and they had already put in $30.
Learned you can hear everything in the other cabins.
Need to bring stuff to decorate your cabin door if it is a birthday, holiday, or celebration.
Hate and Jealousy
So these are two words I dislike and try not to have in my vocabulary.
Why? Well let me tell you.
Hate - I was often told by my sister in law that it was a strong word and she is right. Do I really hate someone? Hatred is often associated with feelings of anger and a disposition towards hostility. Don't get me wrong I get angry but hearing that word even jokingly I don't like. I prefer to say and hear dislike.
Jealousy - Jealousy often consists of a combination of presenting emotions such as anger, resentment, inadequacy, helplessness and disgust. So when I hear someone say I am so jealous? or they ask me if I am jealous of something someone is doing I am taken off guard. Really, do friends resent the accomplishments that their friends are able to make wether it is by going on a trip, a day off work to spend at the Magic Kingdom, purchase of a new home, or car? I hope people know that I am happy for the accomplishments my family and friends have and enjoy.
So I am grateful that I avoid to use these two words when expressing myself. I know I may sound a little self righteous but that is not the point of this post. Rather it is to make you think twice before using these words as well as challenge you to not use them. Try it, you may see a difference in how you see things and how others see you.

November 8 - San Diego Temple
I am grateful for temples.
I am fortunate to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I am even more fortunate to work and serve at the San Diego Temple each Thursday night.
The peace I feel while I help others is not easy to explain. I often rush in there after work and think how can I work 4 -5 hours now I am so exhausted. However, I somehow have the strenght and energy to serve. The miracle or better yet said my testimony about service is that the person doing the service probably gets more blessed by doing the act.
At least that is what my experience is every Thursday night that I work at the San Diego Temple. I have energy and I feel love for the people I am helping that day and the spirit that is there of unconditional love.
Who knew that when I was sitting in EJBA's car and we were looking at the San Diego temple and I said I wanted to be married there; I would one day be serving there. I may not have the memory or the opportunity to marry in the temple in this life; and that is ok I have the opportunity to serve there and gain a better love and understanding about the Plan of Salvation.

November 7 - Friends
There are many people that come into our lives and they remain their by our side. I have been blessed to have some of the finest individuals in my life that I can call friend. I have my family which are also my friends; I have previous co-workers that I maintain contact with and call my friend; I have my church friends; I have my school friends.
I don't let many people into my life as I prefer to be private but the ones that stick around and knock down those walls I build around my heart well they are my friends near to my heart. Let me say this in my defense I have had people who I let in and then really turned around and said nasty things about me. One in particular stands out that she was willing to say that I did elderly abuse to my parents etc. I dont know why JB would say this but I do know this but although I forgive her; it is because of events like this that I have a three strikes your out rule. Harsh I know but another blog for another day.
So I want to focus on three individuals that I am incredibly grateful for today on Day 7; but please note that there oh so many others I could write about it would be a long post.
CPN - I don't quite recall how or where we met. I do know it was at Robert C Cawthon elementary. We were inseparable at times while growing up. She probably knows and remember more about me and my childhood. We would ride our bikes all over Cypress, have sleep overs every weekend and play monopoly marathons. We are still friends but have gone our separate ways. However, I know that if I needed anything I could call her and she would be at my side without a question or hesitation. I learned that really quick a couple of times in my adult life; once when there was drama at my house and she and her fiancee at the time now husband came to my rescue; then when she came to my dad's funeral for some odd reason I didn't think she would come and I so wanted her there and she was. I hope she knows and feels the same way that I would do my best to there for her when she needs me. After all she is my twin blond sister. She really helped me have a great childhood and I can't imagine anyone else that could have made it any better.
EJBA - She was a person I met before I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She worked the customer service department and I was hardware dept. She would always tell me she was going dancing and I always wanted to go but I hung out with the cool crowd so she never invited me. I was so sad when I learned she had quit. A few months later she showed up as a stake missionary to teach me the discussions. She also finally took me to a lot of dances with her. We did so many fun crazy things as YSA's; so many adventures in Lambda Delta Sigma. EJBA also introduced me to her family and they took me in and showed me so much. I love her family so much they all have touched my life in one way at one time or another. While she now lives in TX and has her family (actually almost all of her family lives in TX) I still keep in contact.
PJL - This lady helped me through some of the darkest times of my adult life - the passing of my mom and later my dad. She snapped me out of my dark pitty party and made me realize life was not bad. She also taught me a lot about living with another person and doing things for each other. We did some crazy road trips on a last minute or well planned and then realizing the cars were just too loaded with stuff and had to repack everything. She also has taught me a lot about being thoughtful kind and generous. This past September she gathered the OC Cypress Stake ladies in our group for a weekend of fun in UT. It was a really great time. Everytime I see her I realize how much I truly miss her and how grateful I am for her friendship.
So as you can see these are some of the finest ladies on this Earth. They have all been there for me when I needed them most and have been an important part in my life. I am grateful for each one of them and the friendship and love they have extended to me. I only hope that I have been as good of a friend to them as they have to me.

Update on my eyes and contact lenses
Sunday morning I opted to try wearing contact lenses and I was good to go. Yay. I tried on Monday and I was good. I tried today and I am still good.
I was grateful I had my glasses to wear and was getting used to them but contacts make my sight oh so much better.
Because my left eye is so bad I try to be careful with my lenses and my eye itself so that jalapeno incident had me very worried.

November 6 - Grateful for Teachers
I am grateful for individuals who decide to educate children, teenagers, and adults.
I have had many good teachers who taught me about business, english, math, science and life in general. I also have had friends who are teachers and I am in amazement of all they do for the children who will be the leaders of our future. My own brother K is a teacher. I think teachers often do much more than we realize and our rarely thanked as they should be.
I think of one particular individual; Ms. Knight from Robert C Cawthon in Cypress, CA that was very influential in my life.
I met Ms. Knight when I came to live to the US when I was six years old. She was in the media room and because I was far ahead in math than most 3rd graders I was able to spend a lot of time in the media room with her. I remember doing videos and having a headset on while listening how to say words etc.
Now most people are often surprised when they learn that English is not my primary language. I think Ms. Knight helped me build the foundation and others helped along the way and the time they invested in me was very well invested.
I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to personally thank her many years later when they closed Cawthon. I tried to do this a few years earlier but we missed the opportunity as we played phone tag and she retired. I felt I needed to do this in person because I was and am very grateful for the time she spent with me. So I was elated when I saw her a few years ago.
So while I share my gratitude to her; I challenge you to thank a teacher for all they do. To my friends who are teachers - THANK YOU, YOU are AWESOME!!! I am grateful for teachers who do their job far beyond what is expected.

November is Gratitude Month
Apparently if you are on Facebook we are back at doing our gratitude posts each day. I stopped my gratitude journal so I think I need to start again tonight when I get home.
So here are the posts I would have posted on FB if I had been doing this.
November 1 - Being adopted by mother Maria Del Carmen Michaud Jimenez de Lopez and Leopoldo Lopez. These two great people chose me to be their daughter. I didn't know this until right before my 27th birthday or so after my stepdad passed away. It was a schock to find out and learn that even cousins younger than me knew this secret and while it was a hard time of my life I recognize the blessing to have been chosen to be their daughter.
November 2 - My brother and his wife. Their oldest daughter gets to be in the picture but really this is about them and this is the only picture I could find of just them. I was about 6 when I met K&E. K had a longer and darker beard and looked more like a guy from ZZTop so I was a little scared of him. I don't remember my first impression of E. However, I do know that she has always been very attentive of me as her guest in her home. This past year after a medical procedure I was able to stay at their home for about 5 weeks and boy was I spoiled. My friends have described their home as peaceful, full of love and a place where you feel welcomed.
November 3 - My one and only nephew S. I can only say this kid never ceases to amaze me. oh and he is not a kid, he is a fine young man. When he was born it was during a time that my step dad and I were not getting along at all. I disliked life and just didn't see anything good happening in my future. However, when he was born I think my dad's heart was softened and we go along better and I know it was because of the birth of S that things changed at home. S is a super smart and already thinking about college and the expense it would be for his parents and why it was so important he earned good grades so he could get a scholarship to a school in CA so he could come home and have his mom do his laundry on the weekends. Funny thing is he did get good grades, he did get a scholarship but he went across the country so his mom only had to do his laundry during the holidays. At my 30th birthday party S promised me that although he would not let me live with his family when I was old he would make sure I had a fancy apartment with a nurse to take care of me. I think he will live up to that promise if needed. I can't wait to spend time with him when he is back in CA for the summer. I am grateful for the privilige to be called his aunt and have him in my life. I know this is a goofy picture but I still love him and well he should know better than to let me take a picture like this one.
November 4 - My oldest and pretty niece L. Recent college graduate who has great fashion sense, amazing dancer and super caring. L is very independent and loves to spend time with her friends and meeting people. However, when family needs her she is there. I have enjoyed the time I have had in seeing her grow into the beautiful woman that she is. She is very determined too. I am grateful that I am her aunt even if she thinks I can't dance. I can't wait to see what great things she is going to accomplish. I think the memory that is most recent that touches my heart is the following. Shortly after my mom passed I went to PD for Mother's day. I took L shopping and she asked me if I missed my mom and not sure what else. I do remember that I told her how I sometimes wore Channel #5 because that was my mom's favorite and it made me feel closer to her and not miss her as much. When we gathered to open the mother's day gifts for the grandmas and her mom she brought me a card and a box. I was deeply touched with the card but when I opened and saw a bottle of Channel #5 the tears just started coming. This sweet girl somehow managed to have her mom take her to the mall again and buy this for me. L is kind and giving and very loving so don't let that Ms Independent party girl side of her fool you.I am grateful for her kindness, thoughtfulness and love that L brings to my life.
November 5- My youngest and cute niece N. She will be a high school graduate in 2013 and heading off to college. If you ask her who my favorite niece/nephew is she will tell you she is the favorite. Truth is, I was able to do more things with this sweet girl when she was growing up as I was older and had better financial resources; which is why she thinks she is my favorite. When N was born it was a few days after the one year anniversary of my mother's passing. She brought great joy to me that year as I did not celebrate Christmas that week. N has this incredible way of just bringing peace and calmness to me. She once sent me a card thanking me for her Disney pass and writing that I warmed her heart - she was under 9 - what she doesn't realize is that she warms my hear every day. I have great memories of her and I spending weekends at Disneyland, taking her to midnight showings of Twilight in OC, and Disneyland. I am grateful for the peace and calmness and amazing hugs that N brings to my life.

Tuesday, October 30, 2012
Am I Wearing New Socks or a Strangers Socks?
This morning I dug into the bottom drawer in my closet and pulled all the dark socks. I haven't paired them up just thrown them in there after I do laundry. I usually pair them up but life has been a little hectic as I have fun while having a lot of crazy stuff go on at work.
So I found one pair of dark socks that was paired and I was excited as I thought oh wow my Halloween socks with a skeleton perfect pair to wear today. Then as I took them apart to put them on I realized they were a black and white paisley pattern. Not something I would typically purchase but kind of cute.
So I looked at them and wondered when did I buy these? Did I inherit them in the community laundry room ?
I recalled how they were paired and folded - yes, that was the way I fold and put them away so they have to be mine.
So the answer to the question on my post is - I am wearing new socks that I forgot I bought.

My Eyes Still Burn Ocassionally
So that Jalapeno incident is just about doing me in as I can't wear my contact lenses.
I didn't wear them for a week because I was told it would be good to give my eyes some rest after the flushing and so forth.
Saturday afternnon I figured I needed to give a new pair of contacts a try and so I did. I was hesitent to put them in and was super slow. I had no burning feeling and I could see with my contacts in...yay no more glasses.
I spent a good 12 hours in contacts and took them out put them in a brand new case with some solution.
Sunday morning putting my contacts back in thinking how grateful am I to be able to wear them. I put my right lense in and it is burning my eye. Keep in mind this was not the eye afflicted by the jalapeno. So I quickly remove it and my hear sunk as I knew I couldn't wear contacts that day.
When I arrived home that afternoon I switched the case again.
Monday morning I was optimistic and though maybe my eye is good to go. I put both contacts in and was feeling good and about 5 minutes later my eyes were burning so removed them again.
I thought ok maybe I am sensitive to the solution - try a different one you have in the cabinet. New solution rinsed out the contacts with a lot of the new solution, as well as the case and stored them.
Last night, as I was in choir practice my eyes started burning..oh they did a little during dinner too,...but it was really bad during choir. So I put some eye drops I was recommended to buy and my eyes felt like they were on fire and got super red. Luckily for me, my pharmacist friend was sitting next to me and looked at the eye drops. She said afterwards she would help me get some that didn't have a certain ingredient.
As luck would have it I was super tired at 9:30 pm so I left early and now I have to call AW to see when we can go eye drop shopping.
So not sure what this issue is with my eyes but I do know I don't like it one bit at all as my left eye is super bad and I don't want to cause any damage to it or the other eye in that case.

Psycho at the Full Moon Drive In
So saturday a couple of friends and I headed down to the Full Moon Drive in to see Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho.
I don't recall seeing this movie from start to end but for some reason I thought I saw it from the shower scene to the end. Wrong. I have no recollection of this movie.
As we drove up to the drive in, there was light drizzle but the movie went on. However, my tall friend A was in the back seat and the screen was split for her unless she laid down in the back seat. I insisted that I could sit back there, as I was the shortest person in the car. When I sat in the back seat I thought it was kind of cool to be back there - never sat in my back seat before. Then I realized hey I too am too tall for this back seat action. So I folded down half my back seat and laid down. I thought alright this is cool but quickly realized I couldn't just move around and had to fold down the other part of the seat and did.
I had always wondered if I could sleep in my car and now I know I can. It's actually quite roomy and could be comfortable if I had some pillows, a blanket. So I think if the need should arise that I need to place to sleep my back seat and trunk will do just fine. However, I will need to throw some pillows and a blanket in my trunk.
Unfortunately, I have to say I still have not seen the entire movie. During intermission the drizzle had increased and it was messing with their equipment so our evening came to an early end. However, I was introduced to Mr. Frostie in Pacific Beach and we walked down PB while enjoying our ice cream cones in the cool CA weather.
We definitely will be going back to the Full Moon Drive in as it is fun but we need to bring some trucks with us next time!!

4 weeks until I am in the Pacific Ocean!!!
So last night as I watched the NLCS game and worked on my Halloween costume it dawned on me that in four weeks I would be on a ship sailing to Mexico.
I am finally going on my first cruise and I am excited. A little bit worried about all the work I have to do before I go and the work that will await me when I return. However, looking forward to having some fun.
We will have a two day stop in Cabo San Lucas and then spend Thanksgiving day in Puerto Vallarta. Not sure what this years Thanksgiving dinner will be but I am excited to go to Cabo and to PV. I have never been to Cabo so this is exciting.
So if you have any suggestions of things to do on the cruise and in Cabo let me know.
While I will miss the family time and the yummy pumpkin pies made by my brothers; and pies by S and L: I am looking forward to this adventure. This will be the third or fourth time that I will not spend this holiday with my family in 18 years..so that is a little weird. I usually make it a rule to be there and have only missed it due to having to be in town for work - granted this is when we went to Vegas every other year. Ironically, this year my work is asking me to burn through some vacation time and this week worked out good with a friends schedule so off I go!!!

Weekend Wrap Up
Where do I begin?
I had another great weekend - not sure how this keeps happening but I am loving it!
Saturday - Attended the MCAS at Mira Mar and saw the Blue Angels. I saw them as a little girl and wanted to be one so bad. My dad never discouraged me until one day when my eye vision came up. I soon discovered that my stigmatism and bad left eye would keep me from one day being a Blue Angel...never mind that I am a female. Aircraft amazes me at what it can do and the speed it can travel.
Sunday - I received the most unexpected message from my dear friend LBA. Her older brother PB passed away earlier that morning. PB was my sunday school teacher after I was baptized. He was an RM but went inactive shortly after he taught my class for a year. He built the foundation of my testimony; the B family was an intregal part in my testimony. Their family has been there for me through the loss of both my mom and dad. There are so many memories of them. Barney came to check out the guns we found in a drawer while cleaning out my dad's room after he passed - he chuckled at us as he let us know they were just bb guns; this man has the most amazing stories. JJ - DJ's husband was so kind and gave me words of encouragement when my mom passed away that Sunday morning on 12/25/1993 ( I think that was the year - horrible that i don't remember). LBA was my escort when I received my endowments at the LA Temple. My heart truly aches for PB's family as they have young children who do not have the gospel and I am sure are wondering why their dad was taken when they are not even teenagers yet. I hope the B family knows how much I love them and am mourning with them at this time; but also have hope and faith that PB will help from the other side to comfort his family and help them see the truthfulness of the gospel.
Monday - I was off on my vacation day due to business needs at work. I went to the Magic Kingdom and had so much fun just spending a relaxed no rush to get here or there. I miss living so close to the mouse factory but so grateful that I have friends who have passes here in SD and are willing to go with me.
As the weekend ended I learned my previous bishop F was released as the bishop of my previous ward. I got to know his wife DF when she was our Relief Society President and I had just switched from C1 to C2. I loved her for her caring and when she lost her mother I felt we got a little closer. I have gotten to know this family so well over the past few years. Like many of my friends in the Cypress Stake they have been so kind and loving with me. I wonder what great new adventure is coming up for this family; after all I happen to have heard that there will be a new Stake Presidency called in early 2013.
So as my weekend wrapped up I couldn't help but feel gratitude for all the great people in my life and all the opportunities I am given each day. If you are reading this and you know me - you most likely have blessed my life in one way or another and I thank you.

Lesson learned this week
So this has been one heck of a week. I did a small layoff this week and was at up at 3 am and at work by 4:25. What I thought was a lack of sleep allergy attack appears to be more of a cold.
So back to the subject of this post.
Earlier this week I was out and about and next to a person. This person was talking about a third party and giving details about this persons life and recent events. While I was not the intended audience I could hear what was being said and my mind was blown away. Not so much because of the things that were being said but the fact that they were being openly shared with other individuals. There were some things that were said that if I had been that 3rd party, I would not necessarily want everyone to know.
For the most part I am a private person and don't share much about me or myself with others - why ? Well because I don't want my business to be shared or broadcasted by others to people I may not want to know. I know it probably doesn't make sense as I have a blog but hopefully you get the drift.
I don't believe I behave in the way that this individual did or that I take the information my friends or family share with me and broadcast it to anyone who asks or will listen.
Maybe you are reading this and thinking that I am being judgemental and possibly I am and engaging in gossip.
However, the true intention in my post is to share that if I have ever been this person (which I doubt I have been but I am willing to admit it is possible) I apologize. I vow to continue to be a quiet person in a crowd and only interject when I think things are unfair or change the topic. I know I wont be perfect but I am grateful for the lesson I learned this week.

Time is Flying By
I haven't posted in a while because life has been hectic one thing after another.
Work is super busy and lots going on.
The San Diego temple has been closed so I have been able to work late all the time now. It opens back up tomorrow so back to the normal routine.
I finally have a San Diego library card, a primary care physician at Scripps in Mission Valley.
So let me see what is blog worthy...crazy list:
1. I went to Winco off the 215 on Saturday and introduced my friend MR to the candy barrels
2. I went to a drive-in in Pacific Beach and saw the Breakfast Club
3. I am going on a cruise on Thanksgiving week. This one I am totally excited about but kind of sad to know I wont be with my family on one of my favorite holidays. Yet I know they know that I am oh so grateful for them!!
4. I lost my laundry card after putting $ 30 on it so tonight I am breaking down and getting another one but only with enough money to do the laundry I now have piled up.
5. It seems like it has been longer since I saw my friends in UT. That was so much fun.
6. I only went to 3 Angels baseball games this season; this is kind of sad but I believe in the Angels and power of the rally monkey!!
7. I am already planning my birthday party for next year.
8. I already have quite a few concerts, a graduation, and a senior presentation on my 2013 calendar.
9. I am thinking of going on an Alaska cruise in August 2013.
10. I am thinking of making my blog private so if you want an invite let me know.
As always, I have some challenges ahead of me but I am trying to focus on the positive side of life.

Brad Paisleys song - Then (got me teary eyed)
I am trying to finish up and print the last spreadsheet for my audit so I can finish putting my binder together. Then this song came on and it made me tear up. The words that got me exactly are the following
And now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe the way I feel about you, girl
Like a river meets the sea,
stronger than it's ever been.
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then
It made me think of Tuesday night when I stopped on my way home from the airport and saw my friend from TX. I was sharing with him about how I was dreading this audit and the anxiety I get from doing HSE duties. He is an HSE person himself. Anyhow as I felt the tears coming down he knew it and tried to pull me towards him and I was like no give me a second. Why? Well I fell for him once and started to develop feelings and he let me know then and there we were just friends. I am sure his feelings have not changed and I have guarded my feelings and just learned I need to value his friendship. He is a great guy, unfortunately not the guy for me.
So when this song came on I thought of yeah it would be nice to be someone's whole world and thought of how caring he was but yet I can't be his whole world just his friend.
I don't thinks post makes any sense but I had to get this out on ink...ok maybe in cyber ink.

Draper Temple
One of the things I wanted to do on the girls weekend in UT was a temple session. I was fortunate that P, D, and J were willing to indulge my one request.
I have known all of these ladies since 1989 and although we are all not close in vicinity they each hold a special place in my heart.
The Draper temple is like a big box to me in the middle of some HUGE beautiful homes.
As we went through the session I found myself filled with love for each of these ladies and though of all the people who have been a part of my life.
I am truly blessed to have these ladies as my friends and examples of the way I should live my life.

A few pictures from this weekend.
So when the ladies picked me up they did a cash cab game. They asked me a few questions and I got a prize with each right answer; just like the game. The bonus question was hilarious. My dad's (stepdad) name was Arthur Eldred but he was not around in 1912 but still funny huh? Well my hint was that both Perri and I had slept under the same roof with this person...my first answer was LaRae's oldest sons name which created loud laughter than I thought oh wait Art Eldred.
This is her eating her fries looking at me...we were chilling in the back goofing off.
Friday morning Perri, Jane, Dina and I went to the Draper temple. It was very awesome to be there with friends that you have known for so long. The temple is an amazing place.
Recognize this building? It is in Lehi where one of my favorite movies was filmed...Footloose!! Some of my favorite quotes: You like Men At Work? What Men? Men at Work. Where do they Work?...Well, it's just I get the feeling you've been kissed a lot, and I'm afraid I'd suffer by comparison.....I'm told that the senior class at the high school... has got use of the warehouse in Bayson... for the purpose of putting on a senior dance. Please... join me to pray to the Lord... to guide them in their endeavors (Yes this was the warehouse and it is in Lehi, UT!!!
View at Sundance ResortThe pendant that Perri designed and had made for us. She is super talented and thoughtful!!
Cypress Friends in Utah
So I returned from a great weekend in Utah with some friends that I have known for, oh let's say half my life. These are amazing women who have influenced my life in a positive way and still continue to do so. I will blog more about each day as time allows but will do a short summary with the highlights.
Doing cashcab in Dina's van when they picked me up from the SLC airport. It was hilarious specially with the bonus question. Yes, I did get a prize.
The privilige to do a temple session at the Draper UT temple with Perri, Jane, and Dina.**
Becoming the newest fan of Peter Breinholt on Friday night; good thing I didn't die on my mini hike with Debbie.
Having lunch at the Thai House in Lehi and discovering Thai lemonade.
Getting a beautiful pendant of an orange blossom designed by and from Perrri.**
Having our auras read.
Seeing everyone's families at a bbq hosted by Jane in her beautiful home.**
Riding a ski lift at Sundance Resort
Finding out I am a man trapped in a woman's body. (wondering how many odd reactions this will get but I promise to post in the future).
Thanks to Perri for putting this weekend together; it was unforgettable.

Last night we had Family Home Evening at the Balboa Park - two weeks in a row? I know, I know it seems boring but it is NOT, it is a fabulous venue and it is FREE!!!
It was the final concert of the season and it was quite fun. Our new bishop and his wife joined us along with the missionary couple the Kitchens.
I like Balboa Park but I don't go there very often. I think i need to make it more of a spot to hang out and see the museums and greenery. We had a good turnout and lots of goodies.
The best part was hanging out afterwards with a friend waiting for traffic to die out and talking about life in general.
During the course of that we talked about a boy ok a man that I think is super interesting because we both like sports. However, we decided hands down that I should not chase this individual down by friend requesting on FB. I mean let him do the chasing right and who wants him in my FB business anyway. So I will continue the sports bantering in person only and if it goes into a personal level well I am ok with that but will not initiate.
Also the other night the jolly green giant came over - my 6'6 friend. He is super nice but there is nothing there. Guess just a good friend to hang out with? Maybe? Nah I don't think so.

Pictures that make me smile
Last night I was browsing at my pictures on my phone. Some that I had forgotten about and others that I have on my screensaver because as I see them they take me back to that moment and bring pure happiness to me. So I am going to post some of them on here. Lately I have lacked in the picture posting...maybe part of my bad attitude. Just picking these pics and posting captions brought smiles to my face and filled my heart with gratitude for ALL that I have experienced in this life, currently have, and will have in the future!!!

Challenges
When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?" And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row, I know I need to change something. Steve Jobs
This past week I had the opportunity to meet up for lunch with two of the most amazing ladies I have met during my life in San Diego. Both these ladies have taught me that I need to smile more often and be a friend to all step out of my shyness shell as well as selfish shell - I have to be an extrovert at work so when I am out I can be shy because I don't want to work at being an extrovert.
Anyhow one of them quoted this quote but couldnt' quite remember and a day later the other found it and shared it with us. So now here I am sharing it with all of you that are reading.
I try to do the if today is the last day of my life I need to make it the best day and at the end of the day I try to reflect if today was the last day of my life would it I be pleased....but lately I have been failing BIG time. I haven't thought about this at the beginning or the end of my day. I have somehow fallen into the "oh let me get through today somehow and argh I got through today now let me rest for tomorrow". I now realize that attitude is a BAD attitude.
Work has been a challenge and let me tell you while I have a great boss, the company is good, sometimes that just isn't enough. My home life is in chaos. My social life is great because of the friends and opportunities I am priviliged to have. Yes, that is right I said privilige. I don't believe that I have these amazing individuals in my life just by chance. The people I know are truly the cream of the crop and they are role models to me because of who they are. My home life well it is in chaos - as I saw my bedroom this morning with clothes all over the floor I was like argh. My spiritual life well that is interesting. I have a testimony about my beliefs but my scripture study is lacking, my prayers lacking but I have recognized this and have lately turned the radio off as I drive and make myself talk to my Heavenly Father as I commute. I know not the ideal way but it is working. I think the reason I am not feeling as though I am failing there it is because of my service in the temple each week; as well as the Butterfly Project.
So as a new month is coming and bringing us closer to the final quarter of 2012 I am going to add one more thing of my things to focus on and that is being influenced by the quote above. I am going to look at my life more carefully and do the things that I really want to do and if for some reason the answer is no for a few consecutive days I will have to evaluate why it is that I am feeling that way and make a change. If it is in my attitude I can fix it, if it is because of my outside factors I will work on that as well and make a change.
On that note I am posting a picture that is on my screensaver and just makes me realize how blessed I have been in this life. These three young adults were once little babies. I love them and would do anything for them - they have blessed my life beyond words.

My cup runneth over
Monday I was just pondering and filled with gratitude for all I have and knew my cup runneth over. The next day as I was driving to work my car stalled out and wouldn't start but then it did after a quick prayer. I made a quick call and found out my car was under warranty. I was relieved but also prepared to pay to have it fixed and still felt that "Yes, my cup runneth over, even with this obstacle".
I have tender mercies around me reminding me of how blessed I am as I spend time with my family, friends and we have amazing conversations or just a smile.
I have an amazing family that I have been able to spend time with recently.
My older brother Gary had his 60th birthday party a couple of weeks ago and I went. I remember when I was much much younger and wanted to be just like him. Now, I am completely the opposite of him. . He is the life of the party. I can be too but I am more conservative and family minded.
This past week I saw my sister in law Elaine three times and I love her so much. She is truly the one person that has known me since I was 5 or 6 and encourages me and reminds me of things my mom used to do. So grateful for her keeping the memory of my mom alive and being a second mom to me.
Friends - wow I have the best individuals ever. I post about an issue on FB and they are so there ready to help me out. I don't know that I let them know how much I appreciate them. The one that I met way back in the day at Cawthon has known me the longest and while our lives are in different roads our hearts and love for each other is the same. Then there are those that have known me the past 20 years or so and they too are there for me with words of encouragement during long distance phone calls. Then my newest friends in San Diego - how much have they blessed my life in a short time by being supportive to me in my new home. A year ago I felt so alone here even though I knew them but now I know they are there for me too and just a short drive or phone call away.
My job, yes my job is a blessing to me too. I may have my rough days but really I have what I have because they have been my employer for almost six years.
I live in a country that enables me to have many freedoms. I am a woman that has many opportunities.
Yes, there are times I think how much easier would it be to have a husband who could help me with the manly duties (had to deal with the dealership today and being talked down to by some macho guy) but you know I have friends and a boss who help me out in those situations. Maybe no husband in the next year but maybe in another 10 years or so?
My challenge to you is to focus on all the tender mercies and people who may your cup runneth over!!!

Oh what a weekend!!!
So let me start with the fact that I almost flaked on going up to the OCBC on Friday morning and was considering going to work instead that day. I called MR and SW on Wednesday to let them know and see if I could rearrange my plans; shortly later that afternoon my boss told me I had to not cancel my plans, go enjoy my vacation and delegate. On Thursday he came in and said what do you need me to do? What do people need to do. I was in relieve mode.
So Friday morning EL came and took me downtown to the Santa Fe train station and off I went. Oh I tried to pull out some money from the ATM but it didn't give me any. I panicked and thought what the heck is going on. Then I realized I didn't use the right PIN. On the way there I relaxed and enjoyed the sights; saw some possible bike trails and people enjoying the beach. I need to learn to do that myself I kept thinking.
I arrived at the Anaheim station in Angel Stadium and MR was there waiting to pick me up. We headed for lunch and then off to Main Place Mall. I finally did it and replaced my broken Android and purchased the Galaxy III. I was hesitant as I knew nothing about ice cream and ginger snap but knew MR had done her homework and they were willing to take $ 50 off the price so off I went. I LOVE my new phone.
We checked into our room and the ladies arrived right as we were taking our luggage out of the car. Another indicator that this was going to be an amazing weekend. We headed off to Dana Point and did dinner and started meeting people. It was so great to see old friends from the OC and other areas. We then did the dance and I danced so much. McFerson played our song and I could have gone after that with a big smile on my face. We danced the night away.
Saturday we listened to Mark Madsen aka Perro Loco talk. He has matured from the first time I heard him talk at a NYE fireside in Los Alamitos when he first started playing for the LA Lakers. The thing that stuck out about his talk was his sincerety that he is saddened when he sees the families at church and realizes he is single. He talked about how he threw his own birthday party one year and the lady at the checkout stand mentioned wow when guys get sent to the store they buy too much. He wanted to respond yeah but I sent myself. Then as he was walking out she shouted wait ...did you just buy this for your own party? It stuck out to me and touched me in that here was this man publicly stating how he too longed for a family and was sad about not having that. Yes, men have the ultimate power to make this happen but I think he probably has honestly tried. The remaining workshops were amazing touching and awesome.
We went back to the hotel for the beach time and laid out by the pool. It was relaxing. We then got ready for dinner and improv show. The highlight there was seeing the Grovers, Wiecks, and Mackay's I love my Cypress Stake so much and to see these couples there was icing on the cake. At this time we had agreed to spread out and socialize and meet people so it was quite fun. Low light seeing someone's husband there who is still married and just his whole countenance was gross and made me sick. Not someone you want to be around more on this in a few.
Sunday we had a great sacrament meeting, combined RS and Priesthood. Then we had dinner which was awesome. Then I learned that the wife of the yucky man mentioned above claimed that he said I was all over him and talking crap about a dear friend of mine. I was disgusted about this and also saddened that she felt the need to repeat what he said. I would never be all over a disgusting man like this and have never and will never say crap about my friend. Well there is not one negative thing I can say about this friend or her family. They have been there for me through some of the low points in my life and I love them dearly so seeing those words on a text just hurt my soul.
Monday we went to Disneyland and Disney CA Adventure (DCA). We got fastpasses to Radiator Springs at 8:40 am to go back from 8 pm and 9 pm. Crazy right? But oh so worth it. I love that ride.
What I learned this weekend is that mean angry people will say things to bring us down and tear up relationships with those we care about. Then there are people who create drama. They do this by talking themselves or a perceived problem with someone; with anyone and everyone that is a captive audience. Then there are people who will try to take over the controls of a situation they are not responsible for but don't care. I know that I probably have been guilty of all of the above at one point of my life or another. However, lately I have been praying each morning to have patience, calmness and to truly listen to what is going on around me and think of the best way to respond or help in the situations life puts in front of me.
As we drove home last night I reflected on how blessed I am. I had great parents, have an amazing family near and far, have longtime friends who have patience and love for me. I have been able to do and see many great things in my life. So I need to remember how lucky I am for all I have and have gratitude in my hear.

Sometimes I wish
I wish I had a crystal ball where I could have seen my future if I made certain choices so that life would be easier.
I know, I know life is not meant to be easy or fair...but sometimes I wish and that's ok right?
I had a hell of a week..yes I said hell and trust me that is not a potty mouth.
I was looking forward to hard 4 day work week so I could spend some time with my family in Newport Beach today. However, that was not in the cards for me.
Tuesday I had an employee relations issue...Wednesday I arrived at work to deal with another employee relation matter only to learn the employee didn't come to work the night before...finished my documentation for Tuesdays events and thought oh lunch time and then time to get busy only to hear the fire alarm go off. Dealt with a small fire everything went back to normal and left work at 5:45pm oh yeah I forgot to take lunch. Did laundry and went to bed at midnight. Thursday I finally had a chance to work on the employee relation issue from the day before but it was crazy busy since some documents I needed did not arrive and I had to wait until today. That's when I knew I had to cancel my vacation plans. Friday well I decided I need to evaluate my work situation for the next few days and make a list of all the items I am waiting on from other people to complete certain tasks.
The one thing that kind of bothers me most is that what I was looking forward to the most this week didn't happen - spending time with my family. I cancelled to do my job and took a few punches and kind of feel as though I am a failure. The upside is as I walked out on the shop floor I realized that there are good people at my company. They work hard because they have families too and they appreciate the work and help that I do for them. So to those people who say I sneak around trying to catch them doing things well yeah you got to me today but I will get strong this weekend.

Latin Skill are in tune
So today as I was waiting for the light to change as I was approaching my office I saw this on a bumper sticker on a rear window of the car in front of me: "Existimo ergo Deus non est". I read it and thought and then started translating using latin mad skills. I of course translated incorrectly to Because I exist, God does not. Then I looked it up and I was fairly close the translation is Because I think; God does not exist. Which of course made me very sad.
How sad that people feel that way. I respect their view but I don't understand it and it makes me sad.
On the upside I purchased my ticket to UT early this morning I still haven't received my approval for the timeoff but I am going. I want to see my dear friends that Do think; and know that God exists and have been such a great influences in my life.

Day Three of no FB Challenge
I am about to cave in and ask for my password for FB.
I wonder did I miss an important message? Am I supposed to be at an event and forgot? Is someone getting married, having a baby or passed away? I miss those important things.
I do not miss the harsh political comments, the dramatic posts, the comments that are taken so seriously.
Oh what am I to do? In some ways I like the quiet and peace of no FB and in other ways I feel very secluded. Do I go back for the chaos or do I sit still and enjoy?

Facebook Challenge Day 1
So I gave myself a Facebook challenge to not be on it for a week. I knew this was going to be impossible so I enlisted the help of my beautiful niece Nat. She changed my password and I no longer have access to FB. It has almost been a full day and I kind of feel like I miss it and want to know what everyone is doing and posting and then again I kind of like being denied access to my FB account.
I think my favorite text dialogue today has been the following:
"Heehee :) I love your new password :)" to which I responded
"I have a feeling it has something to do with my favorite....niece Laura LOL".
The response I received later "You will never know"
Who knows maybe now I will be more diligent to the world of blogging.

Weekend Summary - Sizzle, Magic Kingdom and late night phone calls
So last weekend was fantastic. Friday night I was able to have dinner with my friend Monica and it was fun although we have officially decided that we need to go to Sizzler in Vista or that other town the name escapes me at this moment. (Ramona - just remembered as I was proofreading).
I texted back and forth with Mr. Cook that night and eventually went to sleep.
Saturday I headed up to the Magic Kingdom with Shannon to join our friend Marnie. I did it, I purchased an annual pass. The weather was perfect and minimal lines unless you wanted to be in CarsLand.
Sunday was church and I was called to be back in the FHE committee. I love it get released - get a new calling - get called back to your previous committee. I am actually looking forward to this as my friend Ehulani is in charge and she has done an amazing job so I am more than happy to support her. This sunday was Fast Sunday and with me being at Disneyland I had a crazy thought during Relief Society - "What am I going to eat, I am not prepared". I then remembered I had some chicken breasts and some mole and I looked around for my friend Andrea to invite her over right after RS. Then on my way out I saw another friend and told her about it and then I texted another friend. Everyone contributed some yumminess to last minute meal.
After my guests left I spoke with Perri and then stayed up later than usual by texting and eventually talking with Mr. Cook; only to be followed by a midnight call with a dear friend. Good thing my workweek is only two days.

Summary of my week
Here I am third day in a row where I sit at my desk and manage to eat whatever is brought to me for lunch. So I am a little tired and taking a break to blog. Why? Well why not I should get a break right? I think I should at least and catch people (I don't know who) on my life.
So life at work is just challenging I can feel people are feeling the pressure specifically management. OK so I can't go in detail but lets just say times are interesting. I find that I am very overwhelmed but I am managing to let work go when I am out and about. OK maybe not a 100% true statement but I am trying. Unfortunately, I have noticed that when I am relaxing away at home or out and about it is even easier for me to become hangry. Hungy and cranky = hangry. Hungry because I forget to eat which is no bueno for me and cranky because subconsciously I am thinking about work and trying to have fun which results in me getting frustrated if things do not go smoothly. I guess a better way to express this, is that I know things at work well I have 90 individuals to please as well as resolve any issues that arise in such a setting which is tiring. So when I am off I just want to please me and enjoy; which doesn't always happen. OK rambling paragraph.
Next week I only work two days due to the holiday. We are closing on Thursday and Friday so I am using vacation. I thought I would be able to go to UT on a road trip but considering it is month end all my stuff has to be done by the end of my work day on Tuesday evening. The silver lining is that the Vegas Antflicks will be in Oceanside on vacation. I have not seen them in a LONG time and I am looking forward to be able to spend time with them.
Another blessing this past week is that a week ago I was spending time with my beautiful niece Natalie. She came back this weekend with her friends and it is just so great to have her around. She brings peace and calmness into my life. If only I could bottle her up and keep her near me always. As I type this I am listening to the version of "Over the Rainbow" by Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole which only reminds me more of how peaceful life is when she is around.
I was also able to spend time with my nephew Spencer - that little boy is no longer a boy but a great man. He is now in South Africa doing another internship or job or something. That kid is going to accomplish so many great things.
My niece Laura has a dance performance in Boston and oh how I wish I was there to cheer and clap for her. I wish she would come back to CA and live closer to us.
This coming Saturday I am going to Disneyland!! Yes I am buying a pass again...I have a friends in SD that have them so I am making them make sure I go at least once a month.
So while life at work is just crazy insane I have some good things going on with life in general.
