Another reason why I dislike texting

So I was texting back and forth with a friend and it was quite an entertaining event. Then all of a sudden we have gone silent. So it kind of bothers me as we just kind of stopped communicating - why ? Well like a friend posted in FB at least say hey got to go, chat later something don't just leave the other person hanging. Granted hers was worst as it was a phone conversation.

So here is the last few texts....maybe they were just too honest.

Mr. C: so no diamond for you?



Me: My view on marriage has changed in the past few years and I am not about a diamond ring. Remember I am sensitive and sentimental; I inherited a saphire ring that will work just fine by me.

Mr C: I was joking about the diamond.

Ten minutes later

Mr C: I believe anyone really concerned about the size of the diamon is pretty shallow at least to a certain degree.

ME: OK your previous comment made me want to say that I need to remember that the literal understanding I take from your questions is more often a joke and not a serious inquiry. However, I do agree with your diamond comment. Yeah I would love a beautiful rock but honestly I prefer honesty and integrity a lot more.

No response and it has been an hour which we usually end our texts with got to go talk later but nothing yet.  Was my comment about my literal understanding of his question blah blah blah too harsh. Or is he letting me know he has neither honesty and integrity.

Seriously though I am realizing how often we miscommunicate and we increase the odds when we text rather than converse. Not to mention when we don't take the time to slow down and return phone calls.
