Missed Opportunity?

This past weekend I was fortunate to attend my nieces graduation from Boston University. It was such a short but great weekend. I took the red eye and it truly was a red eye. Arrived early and made it to the hotel and took a 2 hour nap at the most and was up for the day.
Spent the day with my family, had a great dinner and then bed for a good 8 hours of sleep. Sunday was graduation day. We enjoyed the festivities and then prepared to go home the next day. I soon fell asleep sometime around 11 pm and around 2:30 I woke up feeling congested and wanting to throw up. I waited as long as I could and around 4 am the bathroom and I became well acquainted. I thought of taking a later flight but sucked it up and headed to the airport feeling as though I had a bad hangover.
I figured its an early flight for the west coast people so we will sleep. Wrong!!! The lady one row behind me and across the aisleway talked the ear off of the kid from Harvard next to her. I felt I was sitting right next to her. After 4 hours of being in a conversation I then heard the man on his other side start giving him advice about college. So no sleep for me.
We had a layover in Phoenix and I was able to move up to the front of the plan (Southwest - Cattleboarding seating.
I sat in a row and eventually began talking to this man whose daughter Britany graduated from BU as well but the communications department. He was very very nice and we were having a good conversation about his daughter my niece and the Boston area. We started talking about San Diego and then Mr BYU sat between us. I was bummed as I really wanted to keep talking to the BU dad So we all chatted a few minutes but then we stopped.
When we arrived BU dad said it was nice flying with you take care I was like oh yes you too. We then unboarded and I was walking out when I realized he was right behind me. I thought you should talk to him give him your number but wasn't sure how to do this. So I went into the women's bathroom which was a huge mistake and quickly ran out. I then saw him going up an escalator and thought oh he is going to his car. After a few minutes I realized I needed to go up that escalator too and realized he was waiting for a shuttle. I seriously said a little prayer and asked that he would be taking the same shuttle company as me so I could somehow give him my number. So I was discouraged when a shuttle bus for a different parking company pulled up and as I reached the waiting area saw him still standing there. I froze and wasn't sure how to approach.
Then my shuttle van pulled up and went straight to him. I was like seriously?!!! So he opened the door for me and I was Hi, its so great to see you again!! He smiled and said yes, it's been so long. I was like ok now what do I say as I got in the van.
Our driver got in and then I realized from the conversationt that me must travel a lot and use that parking lot often.
We got to our lot and I was like ok where is your business card give him one of those. Tell him he's the nicest guy you have met in San Diego and it would be nice to see him again. Thought oh cheesy. Then I thought, ok tell him you are looking for a Production Manager or Cost Estimator and if he knows anyone to call you. Still not sure where my wallet was. So I failed I got out and congratulated him on his daughters graduation and to have a great week.
I thought of giving the driver my number to give to him but that seemed so cheesy.
So I start pulling out of the parking lot and get ready to pay and I think oh he's behind me again. Should I pay for his parking or should I just scribble my number on a paper and tell the cashier to give it to him. I paid and pulled out and looked at the kind of car and thought ok run back and do it but I decided against it.
So as I got on the freeway I realized he was on the freeway a few cars behind me .I switched to get on the 8 and he was doing the same. I was like wouldn't it be funny if he lived near me but seriously not going to happen. Then as I got on the 15 I noticed he was ahead of me and when I got off on my offramp he was a car ahead of me. We started driving into the direction of my place but he turned right on Ruffin into an industrial area. I thought oh he may not live by me but he works near me. I think he probably went to his office to check on some work stuff. I mean if my work was near my home and airport I  would have done the same.
So I think this may have been a missed opportunity. I wish I had taken the courage pill and given my number right? What would I have lost? Nothing, instead I just keep thinking about him when I drive home and look for a Brown Liberty Jeep with 5WKS license plate (those are the only letters I remember of the plate) So please dont think I am a stalker, just a very insecure woman to give out her number to a complete nice stranger on a plane.

  1. AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!You prayed about it and did nothing!?!?! Faith without works is dead, sister! Oh this just kills me! However I like the whole paying for his parking and slipping your number to him, via parking attendant. Well next a similar incident happens, remember this experience and GO FOR IT!! MAKE ME PROUD!!! As Ice Cube says, "You can do it, put your back into it!"
