Palm Desert

Palm Desert is a city in Riverside County in the Coachella Valley approximately 11 miles east of Palm Springs. The area of this city is 24.6 miles but apparently this small city is quite the talk of the town in San Diego. My family lives there and I enjoy visiting them there every now and then. It was not until this past 3 weeks that I learned that this is the most talked about place in San Diego. Three weeks ago my sister in law, niece, nephew and I ventured out to eat dinner at Su Casa in La Jolla. We were originally looking for another restaurant but didn't find it so we went to Su Casa. We were sitting in our booth talking and ended up listening to the conversation going on the booth behind us. No it was not eavesdropping as the individual speaking was talking very loud therefore he gave up his consent to privacy or he wouldn't be talking so loud. The conversation went on and about his many accomplishments. One of which is spending time in Palm Desert and flying in to the airport there. All four of us burst out with open mouths silent laughing, ok maybe we laughed but we did try to contain ourselves. We all whispered "What airport", "Where is the airport"; because there is no airport in Palm Desert. However, we did learn that when you are flying a small plane you should take two commercial pilots nothing less. We ate our evening meal being entertained by this man's conversation. Sadly to say there was a party of four and we never heard any of the other people talk. I am sure they did not have as good as time as we did listening to the man. We had the freedom to make comments about Palm Desert into our conversation when we were not laughing. So fast forward to this Friday night....my nephew and I are eating at Sardena's Family Restaurant. A large party is seated next to us and as we are eating we hear a lady say Palm Desert. We both break into laugher. When I can't contain myself from asking him if he was going to fly to PD the next morning or drive. He of course responds something about needing 2 commercial pilots so he has to drive, which just sends us into more laughter. I can't wait to visit my nephew again to see him but also to go out to eat at this great Mexican food place he discovered and see what great things we hear about Palm Desert.
