Tonight or maybe this week I have been reflecting on my life. I usually only do this once or twice a year (Christmas as we approach the New Year and July when it marks my baptism as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints). The past few days I have though of some specific things so let me share with you.
- I have been very blessed in my life. I had a mother and a father who for some reason or another chose to give me a better life than they could provide and game up for adoption.
- I had a mother and dad who chose me to be their daughter. While they divorced, I still had a better life than anyone could have imagined.
- I moved to the US at the age of 6 which provided me with even more opportunities than my birth parents probably even ever imagined.
- I keep thinking of my mom who passed away on December 26, 1993. I wished she would have had a healthier life that would have allowed her to be the mother she probably wanted to be. Never the less, she was a great mom to me even through her illness and taught me to have compassion - I may not have learned that if she hadn't been sick.
- I am also thinking of the first friend I lost, Michelle L McGrath who passed away on April 25, 1994. She was such a caring, fun, and giving person. If you have ever heard me say "Dude" it is because of Michelle. So in my own little way she is living on every time I say "Dude". She also taught me to greet and say by with the peace sign so maybe I will work on doing that again. I know I will see both Michelle and my mom one day and that will be such a sweet reunion...I can hear Michelle welcoming by saying Dude, I can't believe you did ........
There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
So, If you are reading this - I want you to know that no matter where we are in our lives or in our friendship you will always hold a special place in my heart and I probably have one or two memories of you I think of every now and then.
I love you my friend! I also love that song!
