14 Innings!!!!

So let me start off by explaining that I had not planned to go to opening weekend. I had to drive to the facility at the City of Industry on Thursday and I was finally able to listen to Angels Talk Radio and they hyped me off for the weekend. Not to mention that I drove past the Big A and I was fighting my addiction of having to go to a game and I lost.

Saturday, Lisa and her girls and our bodyguard Ryan headed to the game.

The night before we were freezing so I prepared by buying a new tshirt, yes I now own a #48 Hunter t-shirt. I love him!!!

For some reason during the game I got freezing cold and was miserable. Fortunately I warmed up after wrapping myself with all the blankets available. The game was great and both the Angels and Jays left men on bases towards the later innnings but we finally scored at the bottom of the 14th. I had gone at the top of the 14th to get us all some hot cocoa and began to worry that I would miss something when they ran out of cocoa before the 5th cup and didn't know how to add more. Disaster was avoided as the cashier went over to save the day. I made it back to my seat to see the bottom of the 14th which is when we got the win. Love to see that kind of score.

I love baseball season...and well I am so tempted to go back for Tuesday's game but I will be good and not go back until the following week for the Boston Red Sox series. Sharlene I am living up to my end of our Friday night game bargain. I hope you are!!!

2011 Opening Day

I was fortunate enough to go to the 2011 Opening Day at Angel Stadium This was made possible by the amazing Sharlene Cook. Sharlene, Sophia, Lisa and I headed to the game on Friday...I got to work early so I could leave early as there was rain showers expected. I prayed for no rain and my prayers were answered!!! Padres fans could not say the same...they had a two hour rain delay and the Dodgers won. So sad!!!
Can you believe the Angels are 50 years old? I can't. I remember when my dad used to drop my best friend Cathy and I off and we would watch the game and probably look at the players as well as the guys.
Later in 1994 or so had the opportunity to see JT Snow play for the Angels. I knew of him thru St. Hedgwigs. I didn't like their uniforms then either.
I miss the days I would get a call while at work from Perri telling me I needed to be home by a certain time because she stopped by the stadium and got tickets for a game that night.
Oh and the season of 2002 is when the dream team made it to the World Series. There were times we thought oh noo and then a miracle would happen.
Spring training has also been an enjoyable thing tied to the Angels.
I love my Angels and hope I can make it to as many games as possible this season.
Although the Angels lost the fans still love them and it was Big Bang Friday. the picture below is for my Canadian friends and family!!!

Jetta vs Elantra vs Santa Fe

So a month after my accident I purchased a 2008 Jetta. I never thought of buying a Volkswagen until I had to switch out my Dodge Advantage for a Volkswagen Jetta. The heated seats got me and I was hooked. Not to mention the ability to make a U turn so easily. So I went online shopping thought of the Hyundai Elantra, then back to the Santa Fe and then Jetta. I finally found three Jetta's to look at Garden Grove Volkswagen and made an appointment with Anya - she is amazing. Saw them on Friday night and picked my 2nd choice. My last choice was sold. My first choice had more miles than my second choice and was a couple of thousand more. Explanation...my second choice had been on the lot longer. I picked it up on Saturday afternoon. Drove around did some errands saw an amazing Cypress Stake Roadshow and then drove to Pacific Beach Ward on Sunday morning. Coming home from church - Check Engine Light came on. No worries it is certified and I dropped it off at the dealership down the street from my office. However, I was unable to rent a car because I lost my credit card a week or so ago with my license. So they fixed as much as they could a part comes in tomorrow morning and I will be good to go. I have to drive carefull over bumps and pot holes since it is a fuel line connector. So I will be careful. So I still love my new Jetta (new to me of course). I miss my Santa Fe...as I was trying to determine if that was the right choice there I was talking to Lisa sitting in my rental Jetta with my seat warmer on and a Santa Fe right in front of me. Yes, I had some great times in both my Santa Fe's and a lot of great trips but I think it is time for a change.

Hanging with my people

So a couple of weeks I ventured to a store North Gate. They target the latin community and they had an area where you could order food to go. It was really different for me to be there instead of Ralphs, Trader Joes, or Target. I could see the prices were definitely competitive and the food was yummy. However, not somewhere I would frequent in my every day life...which is bad right? Last night I ventured to a bible study group at Calvary Chapel in spanish. It was a lot different than the way I am used to worshipping but I enjoyed the music and the lesson. The passion the person leading the group had was awesome ( I work with this person and they invited me to attend). I wish I had the courage that this individual has to share the gospel and invite people to attend services at his church. Note that this person is caucasian and his spanish is self taught which is amazing. So as I have ventured into the spanish speaking lands I realize there is a lot of words I do not understand and need to really get comfortable talking in español. I need to have more courage and be brave to share what I believe with other people. Well have a good weekend. There are more adventures to follow or share.

Two years later another accident

So you may know already that I was in a car accident this weekend. It really stinks. I drove up to the OC from San Diego. It was a sunny day in SD and I had been searching for an apartment and think I found one in La Jolla. So I drove back to Oceanside later that afternoon and was window shopping and realized I did not want to go back to my room and spend a night there watching tv. So I texted some friends and I was invited to go to dinner and others said do it, it will be fun. As I was in the northern part of Oceanside I opted to not go back to my place and head straight to the OC. As I started driving there was a hale storm. I thought huhm maybe I should head home and not go but then I listened to the traffic report and figured it was safe. I even took the toll road to avoid any traffic in the rain. As I was near Huntington Beach I realized I was wearing flip flops, had no sweather and thought I should stop at the Target in HB. So I pulled off on Beach Blvd. I was making good time saw a cop at a street and thought this is a rough weather to be a cop in. Then a few minutes later I saw the car in front of the car in front of me slide and slam the brakes. The car in front of me slam their brakes and boom. I was of course breaking started to slide and let go of the brakes and started braking again and heard a softer boom. As I sat there thinking great I started to undo my seatbelt but looked in rear view mirror and knew I was about to be slammed into and slid down my seat. I heard a bigger boom within seconds. My friend Lisa came and made sure I was ok. I also realized there was a sweatshirt in my back seat and shoes. After all was done I drove to the Boulton's and parked my car and went to have dinner. I was looking forward to eating a nice meal. That was not in the cards. The appetizers were not good, my scallop on my entree was burned and I could not eat anything after the yucky taste. Our entire meal was comped. Small blessings. I am now sore I have a mark from my seat belt but I am most grateful that nothing serious occurred. I am waiting to hear the outcome on my car. This may not seem like a trial to most people but to me it is big. I just spent $ 2,500 on this car so if it is totaled I will be very sad. Yet I know in the big overall picture there are worse things that could have happened.

I am in San Diego County

So I am living in a home without Internet access and this is a quick update for those faithful follower who may be wondering where I am what is going on and so on. I was living like a homeless person with my car full of clothes in two suitcases and boxes of food and miscellaneous items in my car. The place I thought I had found did not work out. I think there was signs along the way hinting that this was not the place I wanted to live. I think the big sign was me hitting the car in front of me on my way to putting my deposit. So this could be a story for another day and time. When I moved and left the manor on Wednesday, February 2 it was a sad day for me. I was able to say bye to "the babe twice" and Sharon as I was leaving....it made me realize I would really miss these ladies. I got teary eyed and drove over to the Farrers to just say bye and return their air mattress. Then to my favorite C2 home teacher Ken Mackay and his wife; and of course their neighbor my friend Sharlene Cook. I eventually drove down Valley View to the 405. I was sad but excited. I checked into my hotel room around 9pm and lived there until I checked out on Monday, February 7. I went to a ward in Oceanside that was in the boundaries of an apartment I thought I would live in but I wasn't crazy about the apartment or the ward. I was tired of eating out and being alone in a hotel room so I crashed at my nephews home for two nights. It was so nice to meet some of his friends one night and cook him pollo con mole the next. Unfortunately, he found out I am a bad wife/mother as I did not get home that night from work until 9pm and we ate dinner at 10. I am renting a room from a lady who is very nice and catholic. Jesus is everywhere in this home and the artists who portray him how they believe he looks is not in line with how I view him. So I am uncomfortable seeing this Jesus everywhere. I did venture back to the OC last weekend as I had a rough week and was homesick and was wondering why I ever agreed to this transfer. I had a great time learning to play Bunko and getting to know better Andi and Dan Wood they are hilarious! I had some maintenance done on my car and played hand on foot on Saturday night with the Boulton's. Sunday morning I had a new attitude and got up early to drive down to San Diego and attend the PB ward. It was a challenge as I showed up to the building they no longer meet in and then had to drive to the right building. I met a girl Jo in the parking lot that was also attending for the first time. I liked the ward a lot as the people were very welcoming and I even received a valentine's day rose from the Elders quorum. There is an application process to get into this ward and I see the reason for it but I think it could be worded friendlier. So I have to attend four consecutive weeks before I can have my records transferred; meet with the bishop and have him interview and then when I am deemed worthy I can have my records transferred. So I guess that means I am still a member of Cypress 2nd Ward. I went to FHE on Monday night and it was fun!!! I decided I need to focus my future living to Encinitas or south more to be close to the ward and activities. I miss my life in the OC and I know that once I settle in to a regular place in San Diego I will love my new life in SD. There are more short stories to tell so as soon as I can I will update.

Happy New Year!!!

Yikes, it has been over a month since I have posted. So sorry to my two faithful followers...lol are you still following me? So life has been hectic to say the least. I am looking at a stack of boxes that contain the contents of my bookshelfs, bathroom drawers, and will pack my shoes and remaining stuff that is out this wekeend. I will pack a suitcase on Sunday night and drive down to San Diego where I will work as a regular full time employee of the medical division for my company. My last day at my current office is Friday. Today was the last day at the Paramount location, but need to tie some loose ends tomorrow and then I am done there. I am excited and I have mixed emotions. I found a place and well we shall see what this rollercoaster ride brings me.

It’s been a while

I have tried logging in and posting but my blog wasn’t there. Today I tried again and here it is. Life has been interesting. I had a Total K...
